I love teaching at Springfield Catholic Schools and being a part of the school community! All of my children attended St. Agnes School and I currently have my youngest daughter at the Catholic High School. I believe our Catholic schools are very supportive of student needs and really value a well-rounded education, including religious and spiritual development as well as supporting our community and teaching our children the value of service to others. We are also very blessed to have such caring and supportive teachers and staff!
I am the art teacher for 4th - 8th grade at St. Agnes, SEAS and I.C. I love being creative and doing art whenever I get the chance to, and especially enjoy drawing, printmaking, painting, and ceramics. I also love nature, the outdoors, reading, and spending time with family. I have a B.F.A. from Missouri State University and received my Post-Bac Teacher Certification from Drury University. I have previously worked for the Springfield R-12 district in the alternative program for middle school students. I am a member of the Missouri Art Education Association and of the Southwest District Art Teacher Association.
In art class your child will primarily be focusing on the art making or production process. They will be exploring different media and art forms, and will be learning new art techniques. I will be relating the art projects they are working on to different artists, cultures, and art movements, so they will get an introduction to art history and appreciation. In art they will be developing strong cognitive habits such as creative problem solving and critical thinking skills, learning self-expression and perseverance, practicing envisioning skills, developing observation skills, stretching their imagination, reaching beyond their limits, learning from their mistakes and so much more. I hope that your child will have fun during the creative process and will truly develop an appreciation for art!
Your child’s success is very important to me! Please feel free to contact me whenever you have any questions or concerns.
